Beethoven cello sonata no. 5, op. 102 no.2
The last in the set of five cello sonatas, composed in 1815, a period of sparse compositions but consummate originality, as this sonata demonstrates with its jaunty first movement, sublime slow movement - the only full slow movement in the set of five - and a brilliant contrapuntal finale.
Kabalevsky cello sonata op.71
A remarkable work of the 20th century, full of lyricism and driving rhythm. This is a magnificent work which I discovered on an album of other Russian cello sonatas while preparing last year's program. I was blown away by it. Very happy to have Alexandre and Dimitri play it for us.Rachmaninov cello sonata op.19
Composed in 1901, the same year as his famous Second Piano Concerto, this is Romantic chamber music at its peak—unapologetically sentimental, rich in melody, and demanding true virtuosic firepower. A masterpiece of the cello repertoire. Nothing more to be said.

A lighter, lyrical gem, opening in the style of Haydn, with an intriguing structure: two charming allegretti inner movements.

Dimitri and Alexandre are two fabulous French musicians. They met at Lyon Conservatory and have been playing together for more than a decade. They first visited us in May 2014, playing all of the Beethoven Cello Sonatas, and have come every pandemic-free year. Their visits are always a high point of the year. Don't miss them!

Tickets: No tickets will be issued for concerts. Admission to the music room on the day of the concert will be in accordance with the sequence of receipt of payment (ie, who pays first goes in first and can select their desired seat).
Cancellation: credit will be offered in the event of cancellation due to sickness. If you are feeling sick on the day of the concert, please don't come. No credit will be offered if you have a change of plans.
